Your local Chamber of Commerce is your best friend. You need to join, but you need to make it work for you. It doesn't happen automatically.
Networking
Your local Chamber of Commerce should host networking events. Sometimes they're breakfast meetings, lunch meetings, or after hour meetings. No matter how shy you are, you need to go to at least some of these meetings.
